Thirteenth National Parliament Election 2026

Candidate Disclosures in Affidavits

Published: 22 January 2026

In 2023, for the first time, TIB developed a publicly accessible dashboard by placing all publicly disclosed affidavit information within an automated management and analytical framework from the perspectives of accountability and good governance. Based on this initiative, the findings of the analysis were presented to the general public. This effort created opportunities to raise voter awareness about candidates by making all affidavit-related information more analytically accessible on a large scale, and it also supported informed decision-making by relevant institutions and stakeholders. As a continuation of this initiative, Upazila Parishad elections were later brought under the scope of this dashboard and analyzed. This time, the information has been analyzed in a more comprehensive and detailed manner for the Thirteenth National Parliamentary Election.

In 2023, following TIB’s analysis of affidavit information from the Twelfth National Parliamentary Election and the recommendations provided by TIB, the Representation of the People Order (RPO) was amended in 2025 to make it mandatory for candidates to submit detailed asset declarations covering all assets—both domestic and foreign—belonging to the candidate, as well as their spouse and dependents. In the current analysis, information obtained from candidate identity disclosures in affidavits, when examined alongside data from various reliable and responsible sources, reveals how one or more candidates concealed information regarding foreign citizenship. Based on credible and evidence-based data concerning movable and immovable assets held abroad, TIB has verified these matters.

Based on the information provided in the affidavits of valid candidates for the Thirteenth National Parliamentary Election in 2026, TIB has once again prepared this analytical report titled “Candidate Profile in Affidavits.”
