Information Fair in Khulna to Promote RTI Awareness

The Committee for Concerned Citizens (CCC) Khulna and the district administration jointly organised an information fair on the United Nations Children's Park premises on 12-13 February 2024. A total of 27 institutions, comprising 24 government entities and three private entities, participated in the two-day fair.

The event aimed at promoting awareness on the Right to Information (RTI) Act 2009 and ensuring its effective implementation. It served as a platform for exchanging knowledge and also reaffirmed collective commitment towards building a more transparent and accountable governance framework.

Professor Mohammad Zafar Imam, Former Principal of Government Brajalal (BL) College Khulna and CCC Member, inaugurated the event. The first day of the fair was marked by discussion and cultural programme.

Speakers at the event reiterated the pivotal role of information dissemination for building a Smart Bangladesh. They emphasised providing information in accordance with the RTI Act, and reaffirmed their commitment towards its effective implementation across various government departments.

Pulak Kumar Mondol, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) of Khulna, chaired the discussion. It also featured esteemed guests including Md. Moslem Uddin, Divisional Deputy Director of Primary Education, Zeenat Ara Ahmed, Director of Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) Khulna, and Mamun Mahmood, Deputy Director of Fire Service and Civil Defence Khulna.

Advocate Kudrat-e-Khuda, President of CCC Khulna, delivered the welcome speech, and Md. Firoz Uddin, Cluster Coordinator of TIB, was a discussant.
