Advocacy Holds Health Authority Accountable in Satkhira

In a bid to make the authority concerned accountable and to advocate for quality health services at the local level, the Active Citizens Group (ACG) organised an advocacy meeting under the supervision of the Committee of Concerned Citizens (CCC) in Satkhira on 23 January 2024.

In the meeting, Civil Surgeon of Satkhira and Superintendent of Satkhira Sadar Hospital, Dr. Sheikh Sufian Rustam, promised to provide better health services by taking adequate measures. The ACG of Satkhira Sadar Hospital organised the meeting on the hospital premises. Manirul Islam Milan, coordinator of the ACG, delivered the welcome speech in the meeting.

Participants in the event raised several problems they had experienced, including lack of cleanliness in the hospital, failure to maintain queues for outdoor services, presence of brokers, undue payments for services, inadequate doctors, nurses and staff members, negligence of duty by working staff, and poor treatment of service recipients.

Among others, President of Satkhira CCC Henry Sardar, Convener of health-related subcommittee of CCC Dr. Sushanta Kumer Ghosh, CCC members Kollayan Banerjee and Jesmin Akter, and ACG members along with doctors, officials and employees of Satkhira Sadar Hospital participated in the event.
