The Active Citizens Group (ACG), with the support of the Committee for Concerned Citizens (CCC), organised a consultation meeting at the land office in Bagerhat to enhance the quality of land sector-related services.
Presided over by Bagerhat Sadar Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Mr. M. Saifullah, the meeting addressed different issues, identified during the ACG-conducted community monitoring and community action meetings.
Advocate S. M. Nowroz, Convener of the CCC Land Sub-Committee, delivered the welcome speech on the occasion. The participants discussed various problems related with land sector, emphasising the importance of public hearings and engagement for ensuring transparency. Special attention was also sought to deliver harassment-free services to women and marginalised communities in the union land offices.
The consultation meeting marked a crucial step in addressing challenges of the land sector as well as improving the quality of land services at local level. Members of the CCC Bagerhat Land Sub-Committee, ACG and YES participated in the event, among others.
