CCCs commemorated Right to Know Day 2025

The Committees of Concern Citizens (CCCs) observed the Right to Know Day 2025 on September 28, 2025, at 44 CCC locations nationwide, with the theme "Ensuring Access to Environmental Information in the Digital Age." The CCCs conducted several events and public awareness campaigns to support the people's right to information. These activities included but not limited to organize human chain, rally, public hearing, orientation on the RTI Act of 2009, quiz competition, and discussions with representatives from various district-level government and non-governmental organizations, members of civil society, and members of the media.

The 16 recommendations in the TIB's concept note, which the CCCs presented, include the following: the immediate appointment of an impartial and qualified Information Commissioner; modernizing the Information Commission by amending, expanding, and revising various sections of the Right to Information Act, 2009; making political partes income and expenditures publicly available; updating all government, semi-government, and autonomous institutions' websites with more up-to-date information; and more.

Participants at the discussion meetings received a copy of the concept paper and the recommendations provided by TIB. The speakers mentioned that by entering to the Digital Information Age, where effective governance is fostered by the unfettered flow of information. As a result, government websites should be properly updated, and the names of various projects, budgets, and other pertinent information should be made public.

In order to raise public awareness and ensure that the Right to Information Act 2009 is properly implemented, TIB's Youth Engagement and Support (YES) Group also carried out a mobile campaign, distributing different leaflets, brochures, and formats pertaining to the Act in various public and private offices and institutions throughout the city.
