TIB signs MoU with Information Commission for effective implementation of RTI Act 2009

Under the MoU, TIB and Information Commission will jointly organize capacity building training programmes for the designated officers of both the public and private institutions. Trainings for the students of different educational institutions to promote peoples’ capacity to submit application for information will be jointly organized. Besides, TIB and Information Commission will organize RTI related essay and debate competitions engaging Rover Scouts, Girls Guide, National Cadet Corps and Youth Engagement and Support (YES) Groups of TIB including other youth platforms. RTI related animated videos and TVCs will also be broadcast. The two organizations will jointly celebrate the International Right to Know (RTK) Day by organizing awareness rally, seminar, discussion and information fair.

The MoU will be extended after mutual consent upon its expiring on 30th of September, 2019.

0Welcoming the partnership Chief Information Commissioner Prof. Dr. Golam Rahman hoped that the effective use of RTI Act will empower people to fight corruption and thereby contribute towards steady progress of democracy in the country.

Thanking Information Commission for arranging to collaborative efforts, Dr. Iftekharuzzaman hoped that good governance will be gradually established the country by reducing culture of secrecy, through effective implementation of RTI ACT 2009. It may be mention here that TIB was at the forefront of advocacy and campaign together with other CSOS for enacting RTI Act 2009.
