The Committee of Concerned Citizens (CCC) in Bagerhat orchestrated a citizens gathering and campaign on 28 February 2024 at Dakshin Khanpur Kalibari Bazar in Bagerhat Sadar. The programme aimed at raising public awareness and fostering collective resistance against corruption by bringing together local community members from diverse backgrounds.
Speakers at the event shed light on the pervasive nature of corruption across all sectors of public service, resulting in its institutionalisation. Despite being victims, people often feel powerless to voice their grievances due to fear of reprisal. Considering these, the programme emphasised the importance of unity in combating corruption and standing up for justice.
CCC Member Prof. Chowdhury Abdur Rab presided over the event, where CCC Vice-President Feroza Nasreen Dolly delivered the welcome address. A wide array of professionals, dignitaries and local residents as well as members of the Active Citizens Group (ACG) and Youth Engagement and Support (YES) joined the event.
